Medical Information / Waiver Form
So you have decided to join one of our kayaking tours! Welcome!! Our goal is that you have a smooth, safe and enjoyable kayaking tour. We will be commited to providing this for you. One way we can do this is to ensure that our paddling guests with medical concerns are informed about how we deal with these issues on our kayaking tours. Please read the following guidelines if they apply to you. Having a safe and excellent kayaking tour experience is important to us!
Medical Considerations:
Allergies and Anaphylaxis: If you have any known allergies to any potential triggers we may encounter on our kayaking tours please come prepared with any medication you take for your allergies. Please put your medication into a waterproof container. Please alert your guide before participating in the tour if you have allergies that may be a concern while out kayaking. If you have had an anaphylactic reaction to bee stings or other triggers in an outdoor environment please bring an epipen and your dosage of Benadryl with you on the tour. Again please put all medication into a waterproof container. Victoria Waterfront Tours carries one epipen in our first aid kit which would provide a second dose if the first dose is not effective. Please check the expiry date on your epipen. Be sure it is not expired as the epinephrine can lose it's effectiveness over time.
Angina: If you have been diagnosed with Angina please alert your guide before participating on the tour. Bring your medication with you in a waterproof container.
Epilepsy: Please alert your guide if you experience seisures that may occur while you are out paddling. Sharing a brief history about duration and severity of your seizures will be very beneficial to your safety on the tour.
Previous Injuries: If you have recently had any surgery or injury that may impact your ability to paddle comfortably please discuss ways we can add comfort or modifications should they be needed.
Tetanus: It is important to keep your tetanus shot current - within the past ten years for an adult. Tetanus is a bacteria that lives in soil and can enter through open wounds, cuts and scrapes. Dirt is plentiful in outdoor environments so be sure to be protected!
If you have other medical concerns please bring it to our attention so we can ensure you have a safe and comfortable kayaking experience with us!
