Ten Cool Facts About Harbour Seals

1. Harbour seals are brown, tan or gray in colour. Sometimes they are mottled with all three colours.
They have distinctive V shaped nostrils.

2.They can be up to 20 meters in length and weigh up to 170 kg.

3. Seals stay close to their preferred resting sites but will spend several days at sea and travel up to 50 km in
search of good feeding ground. They will also travel up rivers and inlets to hunt.

4.Harbour seals eat predominantly fish but also eat shrimp, crab, molluscs and squid.

5. Harbour seals can dive up to 450 meters deep and dives may last up to ten minutes long.
