FAQ

What training do your guides have?

Our guides are certified with the Association of Canadian Sea Kayak Guides. Our instructors are certified with Paddle Canada which is the governing body for paddle sports in Canada. All of our guides have current first aid training and CPR C qualifications. qualifications.

Do I need my own gear for the lessons?

We will provide all of the sea kayaking gear needed to complete the lessons we offer. If you have personal gear that you would rather use please feel free to bring it along. Using your own gear will not affect the pricing of our lessons or tours.
If your personal gear is not functioning or does not meet with Coast Guard requirements we will recommend that you use our gear.

Do I need experience kayaking before taking the lessons or joining a tour?

No experience is required for our lessons or tours. We will include an introductory lesson if you join a guided tour. We do recommend that you take the lessons in the chronological order that we have set up as one skill level will lead to higher skill levels.

Can I get certified if I take a lesson with you?

Yes you can get certified if you enroll in Paddle Canada lessons. You will receive a certification card and registration with Paddle Canada, which is the governing body for paddle sports in Canada.

What should I wear to my lesson?

It is a good idea to wear quick dry clothing for regular paddling. Avoid any cotton clothing. If you are performing wet exits in your lessons please wear a wet suit. We rent wet suits at reasonable prices. A paddling jacket with sleeve and neck fasteners as well as waterproof footwear will be required.

What is provided?

In our lessons and guided tours we provide you with a sea kayak, PFD, paddles, spray skirt, coast guard required safety gear and a certified instructor/ guide.

What do I need to bring?

We will send you an equipment list when you register for a lesson or tour with us.
